Have Done

Film

While the standard practice in the film industry is to hire individuals, it is often the case in low budget films that the directors prefer to hire a team of experienced stunt people that have a proven track record and that they know will work well to together. Because of this we have been hired "as a company" for the following projects.

Also included here are Music Videos, which also typically hope to hire a single team to handle all stunt related work.

Public  Enemies (Starring Johnny Depp)

While not hired as a company, enough Asylum members worked on Michael Mann's movie Public Enemies that if felt like an Asylum project!

Alpha Studios

Ricardo Islas was impressed enough with our work when he was DP in Resistance [link to Cinema Beyond listing] to make Asylum one of the first calls he made when he started his own film company, Alpha Studios. We've worked with them on stunt choreography, actor training, and doubling on their first film, Night Fang. One of the Asylum team even stepped up in a casting emergency and is now featured as the unfortunate (but deserving) first victim in the film.

Since then we have worked on his films: Día de los muertos, Lockout, To Kill a Killer

BDYD Productions

For the feature-length film Boricua (executive producers, Marisol Torres and Richard Sweren, co-executive producer of Law & Order), Asylum team members acted as stunt choreographers and coordinators, training actors before and during filming and working with a challenging group of untrained Chicago policemen on set. Asylum Instructor Domingo Rodriguez also stepped in as on-screen talent.

The film has been screened at the Tribeca Film Festival, the NY Latino Film Festival, and, most recently, at the Urbanworld Film Festival in New York.

Cinema Beyond

Once again, Asylum was invaluable from start to finish in Resistance, a Cinema Beyond production directed by Peter Dolan. In addition to choreographing, training actors, and coordinating action shots on set, Asylum team members appeared on screen and assisted with special effects. Co-director Jeff Kehoe even designed a complex, close-range remote pyro effect specifically for Resistance.

Bad Boy Bill

The Asylum team was selected to choreograph, train, and perform in the 2001 disk release from this world-renowned DJ, Bangin’ the box Volume 5. The CD includes one bonus music video, shown on MTV, that features Marcus Chong (The Matrix).

SOiL

The Asylum team was selected to choreograph, train, and perform in the 2006 music video for their song "Give It Up", and  starred several members of Asylum.

Sword of Hearts

In their own words,

“Sword of Hearts is a rollicking adventure story in the tradition of The Princess           Bride and The Three Musketeers! It's full of action, romance, comedy and       excitement!”

This feature-length film, from Sword & Cloak Productions, tells the tale of a young solider who returns to the village of his birth with plans to make amends with a woman he once wronged. Finding her married into a powerful, noble family with designs on the throne, he is soon plunged into cunning plots, thrilling action, and the search for a mystical relic. Much swashbuckling ensues.

This was relatively early work for the members of the team, who distinguished themselves from the first auditions: all candidates were asked to split up into groups of three and given 15 minutes to come up with a fight. Because of the many stock fights and moves they had in their repertoire, our team members were able to split up in different groups and act as choreographers for each group. Many of these initial audition fights ended up as main fights in the final production. Some of our choreography was also used by the principals to liven up their fights.

Northwestern University

This summer we worked with NiteSkool on their latest music video project, inspired by 70's girl-gang films. NiteSkool is a Northwestern University student group that promotes bands and releases one music video every year. Asylum Stunts coordinated all of the fight scenes (look for some classic 70's style fights as well as some touches of John Woo-style gun ballet), trained the actors for the fights over two months, and provided coaching, gun wrangling, and safety on set.

Of note, team member and Instructor Laurie McNeilly was the featured stunt-woman in NiteSkool’s video production "Armor" 2 years ago.
